Why people want to buy

Justin Vajko • March 16, 2026

“I wanted to work with you because your pitch just makes sense.”

“I bought in because my friend was a client and they saw 10x growth.”

“You’ve got a nice smile. You seem nice.”

There are a lot of reasons people want to buy.

(and the reasons aren’t always consistent)

It can be hard to throw in a bunch of contradicting messages and come out with one consistent statement.

But everyone needs at least 1 pitch to hammer home.

→ Figure out what everyone NEEDS to hear
→ Figure out what everyone WANTS to hear
→ Come up with 1 strong message and be consistent about it

Then…
→ Look at the outliers. Maybe you’re addressing pain points you hadn’t even considered.
→ Tailor specific messages for specific people.

Most people’s marketing fails when they..

1) Only have 1 message
2) Have a million different messages

You need to have both to be heard over the noise.

Stacy Eleczko and I have a great podcast diving into the mysteries of buyer motivation and how you can fix your messaging.
