Short-Form Video Builds Trust Faster (But Not in the Way You Think)

Justin Vajko • March 7, 2025

If you want exponential growth...here's how to get it.

Short-form video builds trust faster than other forms of content. That’s true, but not the way you probably think.

When compared to a one-on-one call, a webinar, or even a referral, short-form video doesn't always build trust in the same way.

Short-Form Video Builds Trust at Scale Over Time

The secret is in understanding the difference between trust-building on an individual level and trust-building at scale.

When you have a one-on-one conversation with someone, or attend a webinar, trust is built through direct interaction.

That’s trust-building on an individual level.

Establishing trust one-on-one is important. But, let’s be honest, you’re probably not making a sale right away after a single meeting.

The same goes for referrals.

It takes multiple touch points before someone feels comfortable enough to make a buying decision, especially when the product or service is more expensive or complex.

Anyone who has bought a course from someone knows this is true. You don’t just buy a course from a random stranger online.

You buy a course from someone who:

→ You’ve watched regularly

→ Gives advice that you resonate with

→ Provided consistent value

This is where short-form video shines.

The goal of short-form video content isn’t for someone to watch one video and immediately make a purchase.

It’s not about the instant sale.

Instead, short-form video allows you to build trust through repeated interactions with your audience. By creating multiple pieces of content, you have the opportunity to reach hundreds, or even thousands, of people across a variety of touch points.

So yeah, short-form video can build trust faster, but it’s important to understand that it happens over time and at scale.

Trust is built with repetition.

By using short-form video consistently, you’re building a relationship over time that reaches a much larger audience than you could with individual calls or webinars.

That’s the secret to exponential growth.

If you want to start producing high-quality short-form video, reach out. That’s what we love to do at Dialog.
