How Not to Be Cheesy

Justin Vajko • May 14, 2025

A lot of people are terrified of their videos looking cheesy. Here’s how to fix that.

You have to shift your mindset.

When you hit record, STOP acting and START sharing.

People get too in their heads when they do video.

They start thinking, “I’m going to be on video. I’m making something that will live forever and forever. I have to be super professional. I have to sound and look just right.”

(and yes, the internet is forever…but you’re only making it worse by getting in your head.)

Instead, just start sharing your knowledge.

Imagine you’re talking to your parents about work. Think about telling them something you’re proud of or something interesting you learned.

When you focus on just sharing what you’re passionate about, you’ll relax.

Your body won’t be stiff and awkward.

(your smile will look less like a mugshot)

You’ll just be focused on sharing your knowledge.

When you just see video as a way to capture your insights, you’ll do a much better job being aesthetic with your content and you won’t have to worry about looking cheesy.
