You can't lead if...
If I were building this business from scratch, I would do a LOT of things differently.I was recently asked, “Did you always want to be a leader?”
You’d probably be surprised by how many founders didn’t actually set out to be leaders.
For me, it kind of just came naturally.
I’m the oldest of 4, so I’ve always been delegating tasks. If there are people around me, I want to include them in the process.
Bad leaders think delegating means: “Work for thee but not for me.”
That’s never been my issue.
I’ve never been afraid of hard work.
What HAS been a struggle for me as a leader is realizing that delegating means building up a strong team.
Which means letting other people handle challenging tasks and trusting myself to let go.
(don’t freak out about the thumbnail. don’t freak out about the thumbnail.)
But bottom line, it’s something I’ve had to overcome. You don’t get anywhere as a leader or as a
founder if you can’t learn to let go of control and trust your team.
If you can’t trust your team, it doesn’t matter how amazing they are because their true potential will never be realized.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had as a leader/founder?
