Everyone's obsessed with numbers

Justin Vajko • June 20, 2025

My 1-year-old daughter is obsessed with her numbers book (and my clients are obsessed with theirs)

When it comes to video content, the #1 question I get is: “What kind of numbers should I expect?”

Here’s the honest answer:

1) Your first video will probably get the most engagement.

When you do your first video ever on LinkedIn, you can expect a spike in engagement that'll drop off over time.

Why?

Because people are excited to see you show up.

People love seeing other people put themselves out there.

Your network rallies behind you.

Then… it drops off.

That’s normal.

2) after that, the numbers start to look different.

It’s not going to be fast. It’s not going to be sexy.

→ You may not go viral.
→ You may not get 100 likes.

But then you’ll start hearing things like:

→ “Hey, I’ve been following your videos for a while now. Love what you’ve been doing.”
→ “I saw your content and knew I had to reach out.”
→ “I feel like I already know you.”

Your numbers are gonna be less numbers and more anecdotal as you do video content.

That’s the real ROI of video.

Not view count. Trust.

Trust is what leads to real business.

So if you're getting caught up in views and likes, zoom out.

Chasing numbers won’t help.

Video is about showing up consistently, so your future clients remember you when it matters.
