Your LinkedIn videos don't need to go viral

Most founders don't realize your LinkedIn videos will rarely go viral, but that’s not why you should be doing it.

“But Justin, why the heck should I do video if it’s not going to get me more eyeballs?”

1) You’re creating content for someone to watch when they’re looking for someone to trust

When people are vetting you, they visit your LinkedIn profile.

They see who's in your network, they see what people are saying about you, and they see what you’re posting.

And when they look at your posts, they want to find trust content.

Trust content is this type of content that shows both how you think & what you’re like simultaneously.

Most LinkedIn posts are text posts.

(that’s an OK form of trust content… if it’s not written by ChatGPT)

But text posts aren’t the best way to vet someone you want to work with.

The best way to get to know someone (AKA the highest form of trust content) is watching them in their element.

And that’s what video does.

2) Video is the best medium for LinkedIn thought leadership ads

If you don’t know what thought leadership ads are, they’re a fairly recent addition and they’re game changing for marketing.

You can post something from your personal account and have your ad account pick it up and push it as an ad.

That ad will push your video to the right buyers and give you a lot more reach.

Any LinkedIn ad agency now that’s worth their salt agrees that thought leadership video ads are the best kind of ad right now.

I didn’t find this out by myself. I’m not some ad guru.

I heard about this from AJ Wilcox and Kevin Lord Berry.

What I do know is video.

Justin takes a seat with RC Victorino to deconstruct why so much B2B content feels the same in this day and age and what it takes to create something people actually want to pay attention to. They dig into how editorial judgment, internal data, and AI can work together without turning your content into another version of what everyone else is already saying. ----- RC Victorino is a brand and content leader at BuildOps who started his career covering small towns for weekly newspapers in New Hampshire — the day before 9/11. That journalism instinct eventually pulled him into B2B tech, where he's spent nearly twenty years trying to get marketers to stop overengineering everything. He believes the best marketing should make someone feel something, not just click something.
