Why Video Content Matters for B2B Executives

(And How to Capture It on the Go)

Let me drop an interesting statistic: 59% of executives prefer a video explaining a subject over text.

That’s almost two-thirds of people, and here’s the kicker: These aren’t just younger people. These are middle-aged executives across both genders who prefer video over text.

This shows that video isn’t just a trend for the younger generation. It’s becoming the preferred method of content consumption across all age groups, including the decision-makers in the B2B world.

Whether we like it or not, video is no longer just a form of content for millennials and Gen Z. Now, it’s a powerful tool for businesses looking to connect with a wide audience, including key executives.

The Power of Video in B2B

In the world of B2B, we’re always sharing content. Whether it’s through sales calls, networking, attending events, or even casual discussions with peers, there’s constant content being exchanged.

What if we could capture those moments and turn them into valuable content for our audience?

That’s where the “sawdust method” comes in.

This method is about capturing content as it happens, in real-time, throughout your day.

How to Capture Video Content on the Go

My favorite way to do this is by recording quick videos.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

The beauty of video is that it’s more engaging and personal than text, and as we've seen, executives across the board prefer it.

Here’s how you can start incorporating video into your daily routine:

1) Record During Calls – Whether it’s a sales call or a team meeting, turn on your camera and record the conversation (with permission, of course). You never know what insightful nugget of information you might want to share later.

2) Capture Your Thoughts on the Go – If something comes to mind during a networking event, a meeting, or even while you’re working, hit record. Share your thoughts in a quick video and save it for later.

3) Be Authentic – The beauty of video is that it allows you to be more authentic and connect with your audience in a more human way. Don’t overthink it. Just speak naturally and share what’s on your mind.

Use Video for Thought Leadership

Executives are looking for insights. That’s why you should turn your everyday conversations and reflections into valuable thought leadership content. A short video can showcase your expertise and help you build trust with your audience.

The best part?

It doesn’t require much effort, and it’s incredibly effective in connecting with your audience.
